Writer’s Block sucks

Maybe it was my kids being sick for over a month this summer.

Maybe it was struggling to finally celebrate and enjoy my new life with my family (once they were healed).

Maybe it’s having to process the whole Otty Sanchez thing.

Regardless, I’ve been struggling lately to write about anything Postpartum related. And I mean REALLY struggling.

School started a few weeks ago, my husband started a new job, and I’ve been the family chauffeur to boot. In the middle of the day, I now have time to myself with just Cameron. We’ve been laughing, bonding, and just getting a kick out of getting to really know each other. He’s 20 months old now, walking, learning new words, and developing a really hilarious sense of humor while he’s at it. His favorite thing? To walk around in circles whilst screeching “wheeeeee!” almost at the top of his lungs. Second favorite is watching Mama make the cross-eyed and tongue stuck out funny face. His laugh instantly warms the room!

So forgive me for leaving you hanging – I’ve been enjoying the truly important things in my life – my kids, my husband, and just life in general.

I promise I haven’t forgotten about you!

Two Hours to finish a Smoothie?

My attempt at hiding Alli’s medicine in a smoothie failed miserably.

It took nearly two hours for her to finish the thing and if I had recorded the sounds she was making the entire time, you’d expect me to be announcing the birth of a child after it was all over. Seriously!

What the heck is going on here??? Why won’t my kid take her medicine? Chris says it’s because she’s got his discerning palate which means she’ll be a chef someday. I don’t care about someday, I told him. All I care about is that she take her medicine now so she can go back to school.

I just got off the phone with a very unfortunate nurse at my pediatrician’s office who’s first suggestion was to hid the medicine in some yogurt or pudding. Were you NOT listening to what I just told you about the friggin smoothie???  The medicine was hidden in blended layers of frozen blueberries, yogurt, banana, and blueberry juice. AND SHE KNEW IT WAS THERE!!!! Then the nurse brilliantly told me to hide it in some Sunny D. Listen here sweetheart, my kid’s got strep. I’m not giving her something as acidic as Sunny D. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that’d be a bit like rubbing salt in an open wound. And then Brilliant Nurse Idiot suggested I not let Alli see me put the medicine in whatever I’m hiding it in. Really? Oh My God. Thank YOU for that brilliant tip. I HADN’T THOUGHT OF THAT ONE!!!! The pediatrician is supposed to call me back. I think I got a bit too belligerent on the phone but I’m at my wit’s end, can ya blame me?

I want to go curl up in our bed and go to sleep.  I think I will right after the ped calls me back.

Anyone have a tracking number for that Cuervo?

Life… it happens!

What a weekend!

Chris hurt his ankle on Friday.

Alli, Charlotte, and I are sick.

Cameron is teething.

Chris tore ligaments in his ankle and is on crutches. Alli has Bronchitis and can’t return to school until Wednesday, Charlotte has the beginnings of Bronchitis, and well, I guess I’ve got the same thing.

I can hardly hear due to congestion. I’ve been going to bed every night around eight or nine for the past few nights. Hopefully things will start looking up as the girls get started on some meds and I get rid of my congestion. I’m tired.

On a more positive note, the kids and I went to the local zoo on Saturday. We had a blast and saw all of the animals except for the turkeys and the bears. We also went and saw Sanford Stadium – the girls were SO excited to see where the Georgia Bulldogs play!

Hopefully I’ll be able to get this blog back on track in the next couple of weeks but for now please bear with me as our family recovers!

(prayers would be GREATLY appreciated as well!)

Busy day today!

Alli and I went to Target this morning to pick out a new Sunday School outfit. She helped me push the cart most of the time we were there, tiring out just as we were preparing to leave. So I picked her up and put her in the seat (OUCH) until we got to the car. She is feeling much better, only had to have tylenol and ibuprofen once each today. And we haven’t taken her temp since Friday evening because she just hasn’t been warm enough to warrant the battle. As it is, we’ve had to come up with creative ways to get her to take her medicine.

After we got home, we had lunch, she went down for nap, and I went back to the store for groceries. My pelvis is KILLING me and I am hoping staying home tomorrow will prove to be a good thing.

Gotta run, time to watch TV with Chris!
