I’m BACK!

So you may have been asking yourself – where’s the new stuff? She’s been so awesomely active lately and then BAM – offline! What’s going on???

Well, for starters, I have been blissfully Bill Gates free for nearly 6 months now (I think) and using Ubuntu, a Linux based OS. One day in the not to distant past, my Firefox refused to open. It would open up long enough to load and then disappear. So I’ve been using Epiphany, a no-frills really annoying browser that limits what you can do on the world wide web.

Last Friday I finally backed up my data onto a 2GB USB key so I could reformat with the hopes of getting Firefox and my website design (formerly NvU but now Kompozer, a Firefox extension) back on track. You would think this would be easy, right?

Yeah well, here we are eight days later, an entire day of which was spent without power due to 6.5 in of snow dropping here in Georgia on March 1, and nearly 3 entire days of which was spent without an internet connection due to said storm. Oh, and our schedule was insane this week. Charlotte went back to ATL for speech therapy and had her early pre-K eval, Chris had surgery to deal with his kidney stones, and for added fun, our landlord did some cleaning up after the storm on Friday and burned some debris – the smoke enshrouded the house and I ended up spending the better part of the day at the in-laws because our house is drafty and I didn’t feel like not being able to breathe or see through the allergic reaction tears. Oh, and did I mention the run-in with a trash truck’s drive-train on the way home from ATL? Scared Charlotte and I to pieces!

My poor little Centro has been quite the workhorse and thank God I didn’t get behind in email otherwise I’d really be in trouble. I know it’ll be happy to get a break.

Ubuntu didn’t want to re-install. I didn’t want to go back to Bill Gates land and was not willing to compromise on that. My dear husband has really worked as hard as he could to get me up and running and thankfully he was successful tonight! Still have some glitches to iron out but hey, I’ve got Ubuntu runing, I’m posting here, and all is well.

Oh, and in the meantime I managed to clean my kitchen. The sinks have been clear of debris for the better part of the week. Yeah. Brings to mind a famous quote I’ve seen circulating before: “Show me a clean house and I’ll show you a broken computer!”

But I’m back.

Oh how I’ve missed the Internet on the big screen!

A Bit Behind on things!

Seems taking that tech free weekend is finally catching up with me.

Also doesn’t help that I’ve got a to-do list now however; i don’t ever check it and it’s not emailing me my tasks on a daily basis as it’s supposed to do. (Time do find a new one, right?)

I know what projects I have on the burners and in what order they are and I also knew this month was going to be tremendously arduous and hectic. Boy was I right.

Maternity fair, an exciting initiative here in GA to start a statewide support network (YAY!), another ATL meeting at the end of the month, and oh yeah, Alli starts pre-k the same day as my ATL meeting.

And of course, there’s self-care, family care, house care, etc. Yanno- Life!

I know I haven’t posted any new Grace Awards and trust me, I’ve come across some articles that are well well worth it but frankly I tell myself that I will do it later and then later comes only to find me sound asleep at the other end of the couch! I’ll catch up one of these days. (I’m hoping this weekend maybe?)

Hey! It IS Thursday, isn’t it?

I know, I know.

where’s the interview?

Well, I am insanely busy this week preparing for that Maternity & Baby Fair Presentation.

And to add to the insanity, our internet connection was dead all day yesterday, forcing me to be tech free all day. We didn’t get internet connection back until just as I was going to bed. I did manage to get my presentation flyer finished but still have quite a bit to do between now and Saturday morning.

So Sharing the Journey the interview feature is on hiatus until next week when we’ll feature an interview with another father who’s been on the frontlines of the PPD Battle and survived! (And hopefully we’ll hear from his wife the following week!)

So take care and I will be back to posting regularly soon!

Warmest,

Lauren

Very Busy Weekend

I heard Cameron rustling about at 5 this morning so I rolled out of bed looking forward to some quiet nursing time with him.

Turns out the girls were awake too. I just got them down for nap and have had them to entertain since rising this morning. We did quite a bit, actually. We made Banana Nut muffins for breakfast (from a box) then they played with play-doh while I made pretzels (from scratch). We watched some TV and did some silly stuff too but hey – that’s what Saturday mornings are for, right?

My parents are in transit from VA as I type so they will be here for Cameron’s dedication tomorrow.

I’ve got homemade pizza dough doing a final rise in the oven as I am hoping to make a delicious deep dish pizza. Being a good Jersey girl at heart, I’m not too sure of the proper process so I had to do some research. Hopefully it’ll come out properly.

I’m about to take a nap as I certainly have earned it!

If we get good pictures tomorrow, I will share them with you!

Busy day today!

Alli and I went to Target this morning to pick out a new Sunday School outfit. She helped me push the cart most of the time we were there, tiring out just as we were preparing to leave. So I picked her up and put her in the seat (OUCH) until we got to the car. She is feeling much better, only had to have tylenol and ibuprofen once each today. And we haven’t taken her temp since Friday evening because she just hasn’t been warm enough to warrant the battle. As it is, we’ve had to come up with creative ways to get her to take her medicine.

After we got home, we had lunch, she went down for nap, and I went back to the store for groceries. My pelvis is KILLING me and I am hoping staying home tomorrow will prove to be a good thing.

Gotta run, time to watch TV with Chris!
